Expanding a material handling system inside an operational logistics hub is a precision exercise — new equipment has to integrate with existing conveyors, floor markings need to match updated traffic flows, and installation has to happen without shutting down the facility. In November 2024, Horizon Industrial travelled to Kamloops, BC to execute a conveyor relocation and material handling expansion for a national logistics network.
Project Overview
Horizon Industrial was engaged by a global material handling systems integrator, to support a conveyor relocation and facility expansion project at a national courier and logistics hub in Kamloops, British Columbia. The scope included mechanical installation and line painting to support updated traffic flow and dock operations within the expanded facility.
Scope of Work
The installation scope covered conveyor relocation and mechanical integration into the facility’s updated layout, as well as line painting to establish clear traffic lanes, dock door assignments, and operational zones in accordance with the facility’s updated material flow plan. All line painting was completed to the client’s van line painting standards.
Execution
Horizon Industrial mobilized to Kamloops in November 2024, coordinating directly with the integrator’s project team to execute the installation scope within the facility’s operational windows. The team completed conveyor positioning and mechanical integration, followed by line painting to the specified layout — ensuring the expanded facility was ready for full operational ramp-up.
Results
The conveyor relocation and facility expansion was completed on schedule, with mechanical installation and line painting finished to specification. The Kamloops facility was operational and fully marked for traffic flow, ready for increased throughput volumes.
Horizon came to Kamloops, integrated with our project team seamlessly, and delivered the installation on time. Professional crew, clean work.
